Organic Baked Pears

These warm, cooked pears have a surprise in the middle: a pool of light syrup made of honey and whiskey that livens up the dessert, and adds richness to the fruit.

Ingredients

  • 4 organic Bosc pears
  • 2 Tablespoons organic sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons whiskey

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice each pear laterally 2 inches away from stem. Remove top, and scoop out 1 tablespoon from the body of the pear. Carefully place the open pears on a baking dish. Pour ½ tablespoon sugar and ½ tablespoon whiskey in each hole. Replace the lid of each pear. Bake on the center rack for 30 minutes. Remove from oven. Serve with chocolate sauce.
