Elizabeth Kamel Leaves Hill Country For 'Barbecue Shack'
Hill Country chef Elizabeth Kamel has announced an exciting development for dedicated barbecue lovers all over the country: together with a childhood friend, chef Kamel has formed an "online barbecue shack" focused on East Carolina barbecue that will officially launch on November 1.
CarolinaCueToGo.com will offer traditionally-smoked Eastern Carolina whole hog barbecue, inspired by legendary pitmaster and close friend Ed Mitchell, accompanied by chef Kamel's signature Lexington-style vinegar sauce.
"In my opinion, it will be the best of what North Carolina has to offer," announced chef Kamel.
The venture marks the chef's departure from Hill Country, where Kamel has been an integral part of New York City's barbecue culture for the last decade. "I have thoroughly enjoyed feeding everyone who came to any of our five restaurants and will miss being an active part of the Hill Country Family," said Kamel. "But after more than a decade focused on Texas-style food, it is time for me to go back to my North Carolina roots."
In addition to CarolinaCueToGo.com, Kamel has also announced several more upcoming projects including "a state-of-the-art culinary media center with the Gracious Hospitality Group" and a new cookbook.
