New World Deli: Family Friendly

New World Deli is a very down to earth establishment.  Pretty much what one expects from the deli experience.  We went on a weekday evening to hear a friend play music.  The woman behind the bar was a real charmer.  We all enjoyed chatting with her and then watching her sling our orders down the line to the kitchen staff.

We all ordered reuben sandwiches and a chef salad.  I had the vegetarian variety and here that meant that the meat-alternative was an avocado.  It was a really good trade.  All of the classics – good rye, kraut, slathered in sauce... no sides were included which was ok given the sandwiches' generous physiques.  I was told that it would come with pickles and when mine did not arrive I had to request more – cue the endowment jokes from the table.  The table runner brought me back three pickles, but with his bare hands.  This bothered me  – but, we are talking about deli pickles – I still ate them.

This is an intimate spot for a casual family meal or to hear some of Austin's musicians play in an intimate setting.
