Recently Cathay Pacific held a signature drinks competition along with some of Hong Kong’s top mixologists with the view of creating a new inflight drink for First and Business class customers.
For those who travel first or business class reguarly with Cathay Pacific you might already remember some of these winning drinks from previous competitions “Cathay Delight”, “Pacific Sunrise”, “Cloud 9” and “Oriental Breeze”. These inflight drinks are still being enjoyed by thousands of Cathay Pacific passengers every week and will remain on the drinks list together with the new winning creation.
Now back to this years competition! The competition involved ten mixologists from some of Hong Kong’s leading bars and restaurants who were to create a non alocholic drink. Cabin crew from the airline taste tested each entrant and more than 1400 Cathay Pacific cabin crew voted on their favorite.
The judging panel, also included senior managers from within the airline the president of the Hong Kong Bartenders Association (HKBA) a top tier Marco Polo Club member and one of Cathay Pacific’s Senior Pursers. Each drink was closely scrutinised by its’ taste, presentation and preparation time with the winner being Marlo Guevarra from The Upper House. The drink which is yet to be named (it will be decided updon at a later stage by cabin crew) consists of passion-fruit, lemongrass and apple juice and should be available to first and business class customers later this year.
