New Orleans Restaurants To Serve 'Save The Picayune' Cocktail
New Orleans residents and journalists around the country have sadly taken note of the spiral of NOLA's famed newspaper, The Times-Picayune. Now, the Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group aims to help the paper print seven days a week with a collective charity donation — in the form of a cocktail.
Beginning today, Café B, Café NOMA, Heritage Grill, Ralph's on the Park and Red Fish Grill in New Orleans will begin offering a signature drink, the "Save the Picayune" cocktail for $8. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the cocktail will go to The Times-Picayune and its "adversely affected" employees. "Each of [Ralph's restaurants] stand behind keeping The Times-Picayune in our collective hands seven days a week," says the press release. "RBRG aims to keep the award-winning staff working and reporting on the stories that matter most to New Orleanians."
Nola.com has the scoop on the drinks at each restaurant; with clever names like " "Read & White and Read all Over," and "Picayune Punch," we're ready to toast the NOLA paper. The good news: the drink will be on tap "for the unforeseeable future." Let's hope the drink helps The Times-Picayune's unforeseeable future.
