NC Choices Presents 3rd Annual Carolina Meat Conference
NC Choices' Carolina Meat Conference is entering its third year of educational programming, and will be held in downtown Winston Salem, December 9th through the 10th. The program offers networking opportunities for meat supply chain partners, such as farmers, processors, chefs, buyers, and industry support businesses.
The event allows a gathering of these different professionals from all sectors of the meat industry for two days of panel discussions, presentations, workshops, live butchery and animal handling demonstrations, a trade show, and meals featuring local meats. Some conference topics include livestock production, meat processing, innovative marketing techniques, and updates on how new regulations will affect businesses.
The key note speaker at the conference this year will be Anya Fernald, the co-founder and CEO of Belcampo Meat Co., a group of innovative agriculture companies who strive to make food the "old fashioned way." The companies are located in California, Belize, and Uruguay ad the company owns a ranch, slaughterhouse, grain farm, retail butcher shop, and restaurant. Fernald was also a regular judge on Iron Chef America on the Food Network and has co-authored two books.
The Carolina Meat Conference sold out maximum capacity last year, and this year the conference expects 500 to attend. For more information regarding event details, visit the conference's website.
