McDonald's Joins Snapchat, With Help From Lebron James

With an assist from Miami Heat forward LeBron James, McDonald's has recently joined Snapchat, the friendly but mysterious provider of fleeting messages from your friends. It seems the burger giant is actively pursuing the highly desirable market of 20-somethings who love social media and might reflect with some fondness on the lure of a late-night Big Mac or an Oreo McFlurry.

"We are excited to use Snapchat as a way to share the fun side of our brand with this highly engaged audience of millennials," Rick Wion, McDonald's director of social media told Mashable.

Have you added us on @Snapchat yet? We have a surprise for you all soon. Username: mcdonalds pic.twitter.com/c4cgPfSv46

On Feb. 25, James filmed a commercial for McDonald's along with Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman and Olympic soccer player Alex Morgan. Although no information has been released about the commercial's air date, King James' first snap will also tease the introduction of a new McDonald's sandwich. According to a recent snap, something big is coming on March 10.

To stay up to date on McDonald's millennial-friendly menu, add 'mcdonalds' on Snapchat.
