Masaharu Morimoto and Sam Choy to Guest Star on ‘Hawaii Five-0’

The Iron Chef will train McGarrett to verse Hawaiian heritage chef Sam Choy in a shrimp cook-off

Two of our favorite celebrity chefs will show up on a slightly different form of culinary television.

Season 5 of the revived Hawaii Five-0 (the tropical police procedural that originally ran for 12 seasons between 1968 and 1980) will feature several guest stars, including Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto and prominent Hawaiian chef Sam Choy.

The chefs will join the cast on the show’s January 2 episode. According to the synopsis:

“When a tourist is killed after unknowingly transporting a stolen Van Gogh, an undercover Kono and Chin enter the world of black market priceless art and are taken hostage. Also, McGarrett asks Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto to help train Kamekona to beat chef Sam Choy in a shrimp cook-off.”

If you’ll recall, we interviewed chef Choy about the importance of Hawaiian heritage cuisine and how he does “serious damage” at cooking competitions, so we do expect to see some real and incredible cooking on that episode. Oh, to be an extra on Hawaii Five-0 for a day…
