A robber said he'd been robbing Subway stores because the Jared Fogle diet didn't work for him.

It’s always frustrating when a diet doesn’t work, but one Alabama man decided to vent his frustration in an extreme way this week and allegedly robbed four Subway restaurants because the “Jared Diet” let him down.

In 1998 Jared Fogle famously lost over 200 pounds in a year by eating Subway sandwiches every day. It was an impressive feat, but apparently one that doesn’t work for everybody, because an 18-year-old who was arrested this week for robbing four Subway stores in four day said he did it because he didn’t lose weight on the Subway diet.

According to the New York Daily News, 18-year-old Zachary Rapheal Torrance was arrested Thursday for allegedly robbing four Subway stores last week at gunpoint.

“I don't know if he was kidding or not, but he said he had tried the Jared Diet and it hadn't worked for him, so he wanted his money back," said Hueytown Police Chief Chuck Hagler.
