An invitation by Finnair to attend the Qualityhunters weekend in Helsinki recently meant that we were able to sample Finnair for the first time and in business class! First flight was Dusseldorf to Helsinki and the marimekko inspired menu for the flight included:

Cherry tomatoes and Mozzarella
Butter chicken with basmati rice
Godiva pralines

For passengers sitting in economy class Finnair offer a buy on board meal concept where you can purchase certain snacks as well as sandwiches. You can view the menu here,

From Helsinki to Milan we were treated to a Mousse of smoked salmon with sweet dark rye bread (Always fans of a local product to sample inflight).

The main meal consisted of Beef goulash with a herb polenta and those Godiva pralines made yet another appearance! Since writing this post Finnair have announced a new range of pre order meals that cost €10.00 per meal.

They include: Fresh salad with smoked salmon, Enchilada with Tomato Sauce, Beef Burgundy, Pasta Bolognese and Chicken Korma. There are a limited number of meals available to purchase on flights however they will cost you €12.00 per meal and they may not have your choice available. Meals can't be pre ordered on flights within Finland, and flights to and from Stockholm, St. Petersburg, Dubai, Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius, and flights from Madrid to Helsinki.

The verdict: The butter chicken tasted great although it did look a little messy when it was served but that is obviously due to the amount of sauce in the dish. However the best butter chicken tasted to date has been with Air Berlin view the report here. We travelled as guests of Finnair.
