Recreating Carrie’s Prom (Slideshow)
October 18, 2013
Host a Carrie-themed Halloween party for a bloody good time
So we are going to come right out and say we have no plans for you to actually recreate the shower scene-- but there are ways to give a nod to it at your party. The iconic opening scene involves several shots that display the horrible cruelty Carrie is subjected to that we don’t quite need to give explicit details about. However, lighten the mood and hand out these hilarious flasks as party favors or load them up with red colored shots for a, er, “appropriate” drink of choice.
God Fearing Food
“Religious” isn’t a serious enough description for what Carrie’s mother was. While it may be over the top to deck your party out in religious paraphernalia, we do have an impressive list of biblical foods that should definitely make it onto your food bar.
What to Wear
Of course, everyone who arrives should be dressed to kill. Aside from a pink gown dosed in blood, guests can arrive in time period prom attire. Encourage them to play off of their favorite character’s clothes in the movie or arrive as Carrie’s victims.
Prom night is finally here and it is time to get the horror show on the road. For the prom, make sure you capture the glittery essence of the prom pre Carrie freak-out but hanging dozens of shiny stars and dusting food with edible glitter. Instead of actually pouring pig’s blood on your guests, serve an array of party pork dishes to give an appropriate nod to Carrie’s final straw.
Light a Fire
Turn up the heat and set the party on fire Carri style. Set the scene with dozens of strategically, safely placed candles to give off an eerie glow that will serve as the main lighting for your party. If you are taking the party outdoors, nothing could be more fitting than a pig roast that will freak your friends out and delight their taste buds simultaneously.
