Celebrate Your Hero This Thanksgiving With La Brea Bakery

When I think of the word hero there are a few people that immediately come to mind. A hero is a person that is selfless, kind, and puts other's needs before theirs.  I am blessed to have a lot of people in my life with these qualities.

My best friend Morgan has always been the type of person to drop whatever she was doing and run to the aide of someone if they needed her.   There have been countless times that I've called on her for help and she would be there by my side. It didn't matter the time, what I needed, whether it was big or small, she would find a way to help.

I've always admired this selfless quality in her because it can be challenging balancing your own needs alongside of others. Yet, somehow she makes time for everyone in her life. It's been 1 year since I moved to LA, and even though we're on opposite sides of the country, I still hear from her almost every day.

This year she'll be working on Thanksgiving, reminding me yet again, just how selfless she is.  It's not easy working on the holidays and being a part from your friends and family.  In an ideal world, no one would have to work holidays, but life doesn't operate that way, so it's special that there are people willing to give up their time to serve others.

I remember one year I was feeling bummed about having to work on Thanksgiving Day because I was going to miss out on eating Thanksgiving dinner. Morgan did her best in trying to cheer me up, and even offered to drive an hour after my shift was over to bring a plate that she had made for me during her family dinner. I of course objected and told her not to worry about it, but guess what?  She still did it! And that's just how she has always been; willing to help no matter the inconvenience it may cause her.

This year Morgan is my Thanksgiving Hero because of that selfless attitude. Though we're miles apart and I won't get to see her on Thanksgiving, I want her to know that she is loved and I am so grateful for the sacrifices that she makes for her family and friends.

As another way to say thank you this holiday season, La Brea Bakery is giving everyone the chance to enter their loved ones who work on Thanksgiving to win a surprise gift-  a Thanksgiving meal catered to their place of work! Through the Thanksgiving Heroes page, the company will be accepting nominations (up until Sunday, November 20th) for the Thanksgiving Hero in people's lives. On Thanksgiving Day, ten winners, selected from across the country, will be surprised and delighted with a Thanksgiving feast, courtesy of their family, friends and all of America who nominated.  How amazing does that sound?  Those who nominate their hero will receive a free loaf and if you hero wins, you'll also receive a $500 gift card.
