Avocados measure out to be about 250 calories, and they are certainly high in fat. No need to worry, though — avocados are packed with good, monounsaturated fat, which helps lower levels of bad cholesterol. Because of the many calories in an avocado, the serving size is about a quarter of an avocado.

Don't let the fat content and many calories in an avocado push you away. Consuming avocados in moderation will provide your body with nearly 20 vitamins and minerals. Avocados are also low in sugar and high in fiber, keeping you fuller longer. You can use them to spice up your usual recipes with a new and creamy texture.
