The Good Food Pie Contest In LA
Pie making competition The Good Food Pie Contest returns for its fifth consecutive year in Los Angeles in September NBC Los Angeles is reporting.
The time period from the end of August to early September is what the team at NBC Los Angeles calls "Rise of the Pies", which marks the beginning of Fall and is characterized by an increasing trend in pies throughout food media.
The Good Food Pie Contest could be considered the hallmark of that time, and will be taking place September 7th at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Hosted by Los Angeles NPR affiliate KCRW, the contest features pie categories such as nut, fruit, cream/chiffon/mousse, savory, and vegan. Two special categories are the kids pie category, which will include contestants that are under 12 years old, and a pie that is based on a work of art in the museum.
Last year's competition boasted 285 pies, and this year hopes to experience the same success. Signups end on September 1st, and while entrants can only make one pie per category, they can enter as many categories as they wish.
