Food & Wine Getting Into The Restaurant Business

While Mario Batali and Giada De Laurentiis are giving talks and demos at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, four Best New Chefs will be perparing seasonal menus at a new Chefs Club in the St. Regis Aspen Resort, opening in June.

The restaurant will be open long after the event, and Chefs Club has partnered with Food & Wine magazine to get four Best New Chefs to head up the menu for the summer and winter seasons. For the grand opening, the restaurant has roped in George Mendes of Aldea, James Lewis of Bettola; Alex Seidel of Fruition, and Sue Zemanick of Gautreau's.

Another set of Best New Chefs will take over for the fall/winter menu, starting in November. Chefs will create menus and oversee the restaurant for a few days. Furthermore, Food & Wine editors will create the cocktail list, while executive wine editor Ray Isle will create wine pairings and Jim Meehan will whip up cocktails for the menu.

No word on pricing, but The Aspen Times reports the venue will be "rustically designed" with 120 seats, a bar, and alfresco dining.
