Restaurant Employee Fired After Being Caught Peeling Onions Near A Dumpster

A restaurant in Charlotte, North Carolina, is under fire after employees were caught prepping food outside by a Dumpster. A video received by FOX 46 shows two Tokyo Grill & Buffet kitchen staffers on the ground peeling onions next to garbage cans and other filth. The Mecklenburg County Health Department called this a "critical violation," adding to seven others the eatery received during its last inspection.

Tokyo Grill & Buffet's manager confirmed to FOX 46 that the restaurant's food had indeed been prepared on the asphalt out back, but claims to have already fired at least one of the employees seen in the video. Patrons interviewed in the same newscast said that the restaurant's food is usually quite good, but they don't know if they'll be going back anytime soon.

The restaurant has already suffered a blow to their Yelp page, hovering at about three and a half stars over a handful of health-safety complaints. On Twitter, user @ozarkamerican comes to the employee's defense, writing, "The guy is peeling onions and placing them in plastic bins. Probably stuck with job because they smell up kitchen. Not putting on ground." Others proclaim that all restaurants are dirty in one way or another, such as @argen_j, who says, "There's many reasons to eat at home and if you ever inspected many restaurant kitchens you would never eat out. Vast majority are a mess."
