The Delicious Gift Oprah Gave Meghan Markle's Mom, Doria Ragland

Oprah Winfrey is known as a genius gift-giver, and apparently her generosity extends to Doria Ragland, the mother of newest British royal Duchess Meghan (better known as Meghan Markle). But this time, the talk-show host kept the giving simple — no car key was taped under the seat of Ragland's chair; instead she got a simple fruity present.

Before Oprah traveled to the recent royal wedding between Markle and Prince Harry, she hosted Meghan's mom for a get-together. But according to Entertainment Tonight, Oprah didn't smother Ragland in presents in hopes of bribing her into an interview.

"The story was that Meghan's mom had come to my house and she left laden with gifts," Oprah told ET reporter Nischelle Turner. "You know what the gifts were? First of all, she's great at yoga, so I said, 'Bring your yoga mat and your sneaks in case we just want to do yoga on the lawn.' So one of the bags was a yoga mat and the other was lunch."

But Ragland also landed a tasty treat from Oprah, and a home-grown one, at that. After enjoying a dessert made from fresh kumquats, the two bonded over the tiny orange fruits.

"She said, 'I love kumquats,' and I said, 'I have a kumquat tree! You want some kumquats?' So (I gave her) a basket of kumquats, people," Winfrey revealed. "For all of the people who said I am getting her gifts and I'm trying to bribe her for an interview — they were kumquats. If kumquats can get you an interview, I'm all for it!"

Kumquats may not have that kind of power, but the small, tasty fruit can add a little citrus spark to many recipes. And if you'd like to model your own diet after Ragland's royal daughter, take some tips from what Meghan Markle eats and drinks
