New York City's Dos Caminos Gets Naked With New Menu

Confusion.

That's what we felt as we watched a bowl of pineapple, coconut, and jalapeño guacamole land in front of us, surrounded not by crunchy tortilla chips, but rather by slices of cucumber.

Observant pair of journalists that we are—it mentioned the cucumber chips right on the menu—we shrugged and decided to order it. Opting for the thicker slices that could really pick up the good stuff, we ultimately asked for chips too, because, you know, come on. Regardless, the combination of cucumber and guacamole was incredibly refreshing.

This innovative veggie dish is part of Dos Caminos' new "Naked" menu, designed to provide lighter and healthier menu choices to Mexican food lovers around New York City.

Also on the chopping block are "Naked" tacos— Pollo, Carnitas, Vegetables, Pescado, Baja (Surf & Turf) or Asada—served over a bed of warm quinoa pilaf, bean salad, and avocado pomegranate salsita, in lieu of tortillas. In addition, Dos Caminos is offering: Agua Chile Poached Shrimp, Ceviches of baby octopus, tuna and red snapper, and Salmon a la Plancha.

Of course, what would a naked menu be without naked drinks? There's the Dos Caminos Organic Margarita made with Casa Noble Blanco, agave syrup, and fresh lime juice, and the 'Green Juice' Margarita made with tequila, coconut liqueur, agave, kale, cucumber, lime, apple, pineapple juice, ginger, mint, and chili-lime salt.

Because we were so good during the meal, we let ourselves try all three of the desserts that were brought to the table, two of which contained churros. Rest assured, we didn't feel the least bit guilty indulging.
