How to Help Feed the Hungry for the Holidays

There’s plenty you can do to help those who don't have enough to eat this holiday season

Action Against Hunger

Active in 43 countries, Action Against Hunger has more than 5,000 people in the field helping more than seven million people get access to food and water every year. You can donate here

Bread for the World

Bread for the World Institute works with lawmakers and governments, providing “policy analysis on hunger and strategies to end it.” By working from the inside, they’re able to assist governments in devising strategies to combat everything from child nutrition to climate change-related hunger. You can donate here.

Feed the Children

By working in tandem with public schools, Feed the Children delivers food and medicine, along with other supplies, to families in need. You can donate here.

Feeding America

Feeding America works closely with more than 200 local food banks around the country, providing food to more than 37 million hungry Americans yearly. You can donate here; every dollar donated buys 10 meals to be distributed.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels supports more than 5,000 senior nutrition programs in all 50 states, where 2 million volunteers distribute food to more than 2.5 million homebound senior citizens. You can donate here.

No Kid Hungry

Run by Share our Strength, No Kid Hungry’s goal is to end hunger in the U.S. by educating families about nutrition and healthy cooking. You can donate here.

Oxfam tackles issues of hunger as well as poverty and social injustice at home and around the world. They believe that poverty and hunger are rooted in injustice, and if you eliminate injustice you can eliminate poverty. You can donate here.

Save the Children

The Save the Children Fund is dedicated to just that: protecting children in 120 countries around the world from everything from Ebola to everyday hunger, and providing them access to education. You can make a donation here, or sponsor a child in the U.S. or abroad.

The Hunger Project

The Hunger Project takes a holistic approach toward ending hunger and poverty, by empowering villagers in more than 17,000 communities in Africa, South Asia, and Latin America to “become the agents of their own development.” You can read more about their approach here, and donate here

UNICEF’s goal is to give every child a safe and healthy childhood, working toward a day when no children die from preventable causes. They provide humanitarian relief to children in danger around the world, in the form of food and medicine. You can donate here.
