The Domain is an upscale collection of 100 restaurants and retail stores with high-end boutiques such as Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Neiman Marcus, and Tiffany & Co. Although still in development, this shopping center is already home to some of the newest and hottest restaurants in Austin.
Located inside the Archer Hotel at the Domain Northside, Second Bar + Kitchen is a chic hotspot for creative small plates, finely crafted cocktails, and eclectic beers. David Bull, the award-winning executive chef, offers farm-to-table masterpieces focused on ingredients from local farmers and purveyors.
Start with an avocado fundido, a delectable appetizer served with melted queso asadero, house chorizo, and fresh avocado served bubbling in a cast-iron pan. The chipotle corn chips have a spicy kick that will keep you salivating. The pepperoni soup is a brilliant mixture of typical pizza ingredients like San Marzano tomatoes, melted mozzarella cheese, and garlic croutons. The featured dish is the Congress burger, named after famous Congress Avenue, home of the Texas state capitol. This towering assembly layers ground brisket and chuck, shallot confit, Gruyère, greens, tomatoes, and horseradish pickles, and I highly recommend adding an over-easy egg, for what I call "Humpty Dumpty Style," for some extra-messy honest-to-goodness moisture.
