Do Paleo Restaurants Exist?
The paleo diet has become quite popular within the past couple years, with more and more people jumping on the bandwagon of eating the way they think the earliest humans did, with a diet primarily comprised of nuts, fresh fruits and berries, vegetables, fish, and grass-fed organic meat. Processed foods as well as dairy and grain products are all excluded. While you can certainly find dishes that fit this bill at many restaurants, are there specific paleo restaurants that adhere strictly to the paleo diet?
The paleo diet is still quite niche, and as opposed to vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free diets, there just aren't enough people who adhere to the diet to justify opening a restaurant that's exclusively for them. However, there's one restaurant in New York called Hu Kitchen that's in fact the city's (and possibly the country's) first fully paleo restaurant; you won't find any grains, gluten, dairy, or sugar on the menu.
For those looking to eat paleo at restaurants, your best bet is to go to restaurants that are health-oriented and let your server know that you're on the diet; they'll most likely do everything they can to accommodate. Or you can always go to a steakhouse opt for a big juicy steak! You can find more paleo-friendly restaurants here.
