The Daily Dish: April 28, 2016
Today's first course?
In an update to its recall back on April 7th nearly 41 thousand pounds of cooked chicken nugget products from Pilgrim's Pride Corp. over possible contamination by extraneous plastic, the USDA has announced that the recall now applies to a much larger number of nationally distributed products. The items were shipped nationwide for institutional use, including by schools. Pilgrim's Price is recalling more than 4 million pounds of fully cooked chicken products "that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, including plastic, wood, rubber, and metal." Affected products were sold under the names Gold Kist Farms and Sweet Georgia Brand, and include dozens of items of varying weights and sell-by dates.
We've never heard of any home where soda is considered part of a balanced breakfast, but for some reason, Kellogg's Pop-Tarts is trying to change that. Starting in May, there will be two new flavors to compete for your affections — A&W Root Beer and Crush. Angela Gusse is the director of marketing for the company and says the new flavors an attempt to "surprise our fans with flavors they love."
Finally today, Starbucks has released an emoji keyboard app to help fans "say it with Starbucks." The emojis can be incorporated into email, texts, and Facebook messages. Emojis include Frappuccino blended beverages, iced tea, coffee, a purple unicorn "sipface," and more. Starbucks Keyboard is available for download in the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store for iPhone and Android devices. The emojis can be used in most messaging platforms.
