California Startup Offering Subscription Snack Box With Cannabis-Infused Treats
Nug Run, a Sacremento, Calif.-startup that specializes in high quality edibles, is jumping on the subscription food box bandwagon with a bevy of treats for discerning cannabis connoisseurs.
On April 20 (of course), the company is launching its first ever NugBox—a subscription service that pairs marijuana with edibles that have "complementary terpene [strong smelling organic compounds] profiles" which allow "users to have a more flavorful and fun cannabis experience."
Nick Ocampo, Nug Run's founder, says each box will include two pre-rolled joints, one food item, and the choice of a third item — cannabis, a concentrate, or a vaporizer pen, according to Eater. The first box will feature a blueberry bite, that's being described as "a Lärabar but with cannabis in it." To live up to the box's theme, the bite will be paired alongside berry-flavored cannabis.
But not all items in the Nug Box will contain cannabis.
"One box will include a strawberries and cream macaron with no medicine in it, which will be paired with our sour strawberry cannabis," says Ocampo.
Nug Run, which has partnered with The Emerald Growers' Co-op, Meadow Care, and Lifted Edibles, claims its products are all ethically farmed, fair trade and organically sourced leading to an overall "healthier" cannabis experience.
Nug Boxes will only be available to subscribers who have a medical cannabis recommendation. The company says it will validate all doctor's notes through HelloMD.
Boxes start at $75 and users can order up to three times per month in Sacramento and throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The company is looking to expand into other 4/20 friendly markets like Washington, Oregon, and Colorado.
