Trader Joe’s is unlike any other grocery store around. With so many private-label products that are made exclusively for Trader Joe’s and sold nowhere else, it can be a little daunting to try and figure out what’s worth your money and what isn’t. That’s why we’ve partnered with the folks behind the popular blog What’s Good at Trader Joe’s? to bring you the low-down. Over the past several years, we’ve worked with them to round up their reviews of a wide variety foods in several volumes, resulting in the definitive roundup of the best and worst products at Trader Joe’s. Here’s part one of two.
Vegetarian: Top vegetarian options include Veggie Sausage Patties, Mildly Spiced Vegetable Burritos, and Paneer Tikka Masala.
Breakfast: Favorite breakfast items include Organic Mango Passion Granola, Breakfast Scramble, and Frosted Maple and Brown Sugar Shredded Bite Size Wheats.
Appetizers: Heat and Eat Falafel, Coconut Curry Chicken Stix, and Parmesan Pastry Pups (a play on pigs in a blanket) are all highly ranked.
Beat Expectations: Chocolate Cake and Frosting Mixes, Green Plant Green Food Beverage, and Heart of Darkness Mango Passion Fruit Blend are among the products that were much better than expected.
“Worst. Stuff. Ever.”: The Turkey Meatloaf Muffins, Fat Free Spicy Black Bean Dip, and Satay Peanut Sauce were all found to be quite unpleasant.
