Dunkin' Donuts Launches Hot & Spicy Breakfast Sandwich
Dunkin' Donuts has been on a tear recently, introducing new products faster than most can keep up. Their newest limited time offering is the Hot & Spicy Breakfast Sandwich and Wrap, which comes with a pepper-flecked omelette, bacon, and white cheddar cheese.
According to Brand Eating, the new item launched on Monday, and the sandwich contains an omelette studded with jalapeño, red bell peppers, and habanero Pepper Jack cheese, two strips of bacon, and a slice of white Cheddar cheese on a bagel. The wrap version replaces the bagel with a flour tortilla, and uses half of the omelette, one strip of bacon, and a slice of white Cheddar.
The bagel sells for $3.79 and the wrap costs $1.69.
It appears as if the reason behind this launch is the fact that spicy is "in." "The Hot & Spicy Breakfast Sandwich represents a familiar format — somewhat similar to some of the breakfast sandwiches on our permanent menu — but with a twist of hotter, bolder flavors," executive chef and vice president of product innovation Stan Frankenthaler told Brand Eating. "The spicy taste profile is definitely growing in popularity among consumers in the industry at large, and we thought this would be a great way to introduce it to our menu."
The sandwich contains 550 calories and 18 grams of fat, and the wrap contains 190 calories and 11 grams of fat.
