Drunk Woman Mistakes Jail For Bar, Gets Arrested
When one is drunk enough to mistake a jail for a bar, it might be time to sober up. At that point, though, the problem tends to resolve itself, as one woman discovered recently when she drove up to her neighborhood jail for a drink and got herself arrested.
According to the Associated Press, a 39-year-old Michigan woman was arrested this week when she drove up to the Van Buren County jail, thinking it was a bar. It was around 2 a.m. and patrol units watched her back into the parking lot. When one deputy approached the car, he noticed the woman smelled very strongly of alcohol.
A breathalyzer test revealed the woman had a blood alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit of .08.
The woman was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and having a high BAC. She later told police that she thought she was backing into the parking lot of another bar when she was stopped by police.
