Slow Cooker Recipes To Warm Up With During The Last Of Winter

Ahhh, the slow cooker. Your favorite sidekick for a delicious meal without spending hours in the kitchen. You can toss in your favorite ingredients and head out for your day, knowing you will return to dinner that can be on the table in minutes. Your slow cooker is also a great way to cook up a meal from your freezer without the hassle.

Some of our favorite slow cooker meals are those hearty dishes that warm us up during the winter. Today, we're sharing a handful of recipes for putting your slow cooker to use during these last – hopefully fleeting – days of winter.

First up is a recipe for Indian Chickpeas with Cauliflower – a hearty and savory dish that's perfect for this time of year. We recommend making this one ahead of time and sealing up in a FoodSaver® bag to then freeze and ensure that everything stays flavorful and fresh. When you're ready for this meal, just thaw the mix and place in your slow cooker! You can adjust the seasoning to taste, adding more or less curry paste and powder as desired. Serve this one with rice for a complete meal that tastes just as fresh as the day you cooked it.

Prep a large batch of this Hearty White Chili on a quiet Sunday and then transfer it to your slow cooker on a busy weekday for a simple meal that will be ready before you know it. The best part? Many of the ingredients for this recipe are staples, so you likely have most of them on hand already!

Next up is this is recipe for Asian Inspired Pot Roast. This delicious dish surprisingly only uses a handful of ingredients and your slow cooker will do all the work for you! Recipe creator, Christy, recommends purchasing two roasts in bulk to save money. She vacuum sealed her second roast with her FoodSaver® FM5000 to help preserve the freshness for 5X longer than ordinary storage methods and then popped it in the freezer for the next time she was ready to make this meal!

Finally, we have a recipe for savory Apple Braised Pork Chops. We love the freedom of being able to choose between a few different apple varieties and this recipe can be a complete meal with a couple quick sides such as broccoli and rice or mashed potatoes!
