Blogger Spotlight: Moore Or Less Cooking Food Blog
This week, we're proud to feature Nettie Moore of Moore or Less Cooking Food Blog in the Blogger Spotlight. For those new to the column, we highlight a member of The Daily Meal's Culinary Content Network, a limited group of bloggers who write about food and drink, every Friday.
We look to this group of talented food writers for inspiration and participation with The Daily Meal, whether for restaurant recommendations or new recipes to try out for dinner. Our editorial team covers All Things Food and Drink, and we tap the CCN to remain up to speed with what is happening around the country and the world — from fine dining to home cooking.
In addition to blogging at and creating Moore or Less Cooking Food Blog, Nettie Moore is a massage therapist, mother, and medical assistant.
She cooks, bakes, photographs, and is the designer behind her blog, sharing her passion for food and easy recipes with her readers, friends, and family.
The Daily Meal: What is the mission of your blog?
Nettie Moore: To create simple and delicious recipes for anyone who loves to cook and bake.
How did you get started with your blog?
I started off writing a cookbook, and then I got very sick and had to have an emergency surgery. I was on bed rest, and my daughter suggested that I start a blog. She was 13 at the time and started me up. I had no idea what I was doing, I figured out how to do everything by myself. I read everything I could get my hands on, spoke with every blogger about every type of social media and getting my recipes out in the public, and it just took off right away!
What are some foods you can't live without?
Pasta! (I'm Italian!) Avocados, Nuts, Cheese, Salads, Coffee.
What are some foods you can't stand?
Processed foods.
What is your proudest blog post?
My Pineapple Bundt Poke Cake! It has been shared over 100,000 times, so many readers have messaged me and have said that they have made it numerous times and it is their favorite cake!
What is your biggest blog blunder?
Posting the same recipe twice!
What is your most memorable comment from a reader?
I got the sweetest note from a fella that said he retired and his wife still works and he has tried so many of my recipes for dinner and she has loved them all; he is still trying to not be so challenged by baking and is working on it because I inspire him so much! Isn't that the sweetest thing ever? I will never forget it!
What's on your cooking playlist?
Pink Martini, Pavarotti, Snatam Kaur, and Norah Jones.

What is the best thing about blogging?
I love to create and cook and bake and feed people. Blogging brings the whole package together on to one page, a multi-dimensional experience into layman's terms.
What is the worst thing about blogging?
It is so time consuming, it's like having two full time jobs with no other employees to help out, no vacation time, no sick time, but it's my baby, and I have to keep it healthy and working properly. I have so many deadlines now that we are gearing towards the holidays which I love and hate!
What recipe are you currently obsessed with?
I can't tell you the name but I can give you a hint, it has to do with cake and chocolate!
What would even your most loyal followers be surprised to learn about you?
I am a professional massage therapist, I am also a medical assistant who really wanted to go to medical school but didn't have the funding to go through with it.
