The Cocktail Trends We're Loving In 2013

In many ways, the classic cocktail trend is far from over; this year, though, the movement has propelled cocktails from the Prohibition and Great Gatsby era. That means lots of liqueurs, aperitifs, and overall refreshing drinks (that won't erase the better part of your evening from memory). And some trends, like savory cocktails or beer cocktails, just won't die. Now, bartenders across the country are finding new ways to reinvent the "beer-tail' or to add a little salt to the martini glass. And, perhaps unsurprisingly, the cocktails of 2013 have followed the same trajectory as dining around the country: fresh and local. No longer "farm to table," it's now "farm to bar" for many hot spots around the country.

We'll show you the innovative cocktail trends we've seen so far in 2013, and bars that are making the best of this year's hottest beverages. And of course, we'd be remiss if we didn't share recipes of how to make them at home. Click ahead for our mid-year trend report for cocktails.
