Couple Abandons Cats At Taco Bell Drive-Thru

Restaurant drive-thrus are for pick-ups, not drop-offs, but this week one woman decided that the drive-thru window of a Taco Bell was a good place to abandon her cats, and now she's facing criminal charges over it.

According to WPRI, security cameras at a Rhode Island Taco Bell caught a man and a woman driving up to the drive-thru window. Instead of just placing their orders like normal people, they both got out of the car and put two cats in cat carriers by the side of the building. Then they got back into their car, picked up their food from the pick-up window, and went on their way to enjoy their tacos.

The sight of two people leaving cats outdoors and locked in carriers at a Taco Bell in January in Rhode Island angered a lot of people, and police were finally tipped off to the couple's identities. The cats reportedly belonged to the woman, who admitted to police that she'd abandoned them outdoors, but said she'd tried to get a shelter to take them.

Police say she's been charged with two counts of animal abandonment and is set to go to court next week. The man involved has not been charged. The cats are both safe at animal control.
