California Pizza Kitchen Launches Spicy Korean Barbecue Pizza, Spring Market Vegetable Salad
California Pizza Kitchen has rolled out two new seasonal items, which will be available in all locations through June. Both the Spicy Korean Barbecue pizza and Spring Market Vegetable salad are inspired by seasonal ingredients.
The new pizza comes topped with charred Korean barbecue pork, sliced scallions, sesame seeds, and mozzarella cheese. It's served along with a salad that includes Napa cabbage, cilantro, carrots, and fresh cucumber, and is tossed in a kimchi-style Sriracha vinaigrette, and is meant to be eaten atop the pizza. It sells for around $13.50, on average.
Also on offer is the Spring Market Vegetable salad. It contains field greens, purple kale, spring peas, Granny Smith apples, red radishes, cider plumped raisins, toasted pecans, fresh dill, and mint, and comes with a garlicky Greek yogurt vinaigrette. Served as an entrée, it costs $9.75 on average.
The new pizza taps into the Korean food trend, and while it's obviously far from authentic, it hits the sweet and spicy notes well, and the salad pairs nicely with it and gives it a nice kick. Be careful with the Sriracha dressing, though: it's spicy!
