Bon Appétit Announces 50 Best New Restaurant Nominations
It's that time of year again: Annual superlative season, and it's starting with Bon Appétit's best new restaurants for 2012.
The magazine dropped the nominations list on its website earlier today; Andrew Knowlton, who styles himself the BA Foodist, will reveal his top ten picks August 14, and then his choice for best new restaurant in America for 2012 in the magazine's September issue. Last year, the title went to Charleston's Husk (with runner-up Mission Chinese Food in San Francisco).
Texas got the most nominations this year, with seven restaurants on the list (including Elizabeth Street Café, Oak, and Woodshed Smokehouse). California snagged five nominations (AQ, Ink, etc); New York has four, including NoMad. Washington D.C. and Chicago each got two shoutouts, while Portland has three restaurants on the list. Scroll through the entire list of nominations over on Bon Appétit to agree or disagree, and snag some reservations while you can. Come September, a few of these will be hard to book.
