Boar's Head Introduces Bold Blackened Oven Roasted Turkey
Boar's Head, one of the country's most popular and well-respected producers of deli meats and cheeses, will be rolling out their newest product, called Bold Blackened Oven Roasted Turkey, next month, The Daily Meal has learned.
The spicy new addition to the Boar's Head Bold line, which also includes jerk turkey breast and chipotle chicken breast, has been coated in a spice mix that includes "a robust blend of spices and paprika," according to a release.
The Bold line is "inspired by exotic destinations around the world," according to their website, and judging by the name alone, this product most likely takes its cue from New Orleans-style "blackened" cuisine, pioneered by chef Paul Prudhomme. The spicy rub usually contains a combination of thyme, oregano, chile pepper, peppercorns, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder, but no word if that resembles the recipe used here. Like all Boar's Head products, there are no fillers.
We had the opportunity to sample the new release, and it's certainly bold. The turkey has a nice, spicy kick that's big on flavor but not overwhelming, and does strongly resemble the familiar flavor of blackening spices. Whereas some turkey can certainly qualify as rather bland, this is anything but.
The new product should be hitting the shelves at a grocery store near you by the end of August.
