- Paul watches food-related television and studies it closely to learn the techniques of the pros and then tries to apply them at home.
- His favorite cocktail is the Vesper, a martini variation containing gin, vodka, and the French aperitif Lillet Blanc. It appears in the novel and film adaptation of "Casino Royale." Paul tried it and liked it enough to make it his signature drink.
- Paul frequents regional wineries, breweries, distilleries, and cideries, tasting local concoctions and chatting with the owners to learn their secrets.
Experience
Paul's writing career began during his 10 years as a stand-up comic, creating original material for himself and fellow comedians. Paul wrote and directed the short film "Isn't It Romantic?" which won five film festival awards and was runner-up at the Cannes Short Film Festival. He then spent five years freelancing for Over the Top marketing, writing articles about all aspects of health, including the nutritional value of various foods and the mental health benefits of eating well. Paul has been writing features for The Takeout since January 2025 and editing for Daily Meal since September 2025.
Education
Paul holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy with an English minor from American Public University.
