'American Idol' Finalists Ace Young And Diana DeGarmo Wed, Offer Advice On Choosing Menu And Cake
"American Idol" finalists Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo wed Saturday, June 1, in Los Angeles. Before tying the knot, however, they put a lot of thought into what they would be serving their 250 guests.
In a video of the couple, DeGarmo raved about the benefits of getting to taste test all of the options for the reception.
DeGarmo advised viewers to consider guests' dietary restrictions and preferences when selecting a menu: "If you have lots of vegetarians, you should probably have a vegetarian option," she said in the video. "If you have lots of pescetarians, you should have a fish option."
Young and DeGarmo's wedding was catered by the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel's chef Olivier Rousselle. The couple offered four dinner options: chicken, salmon, filet mignon, and pumpkin ravioli in a sage butter sauce.
The groom also offered advice, encouraging viewers to take their wedding guests' dietary needs into consideration, but also to make sure that the food is something you will enjoy—especially when picking the cake.
The couple had two wedding cakes, both from The Butter End Cakery in Santa Monica. The bakery—whose other clients include celebrity athletic trainer Tracy Anderson—created one vanilla cake (its "Moist Vanilla Bean Cake w/ Vanilla Bean Buttercream") and one banana chocolate chip cake ("Edie's Banana Cake w/ or without Chocolate Chips w/ Cream Cheese Frosting").
DeGarmo hoped that the two cakes would satisfy "all the different personalities" of their guests. Young, on the other hand, said, "Make sure that you like the cake," Young said. "Nobody else has to like it, but you have to like it."
