6 Green-Themed Bashes

We've already expressed our excitement over this year's "it" color, Emerald, but now that St. Patrick's Day is around the corner, we're thinking about new festive ways to celebrate the hue.

When it comes to planning a party, whether it's a small intimate gathering or a big bash, you need to have some kind of color palette or theme in mind to prepare your menu and décor.

With green on the mind, there is a surplus of parties that can use the shade as the basis for inspiration, or just the term "green" can inspire the theme on its own.

To celebrate a variety of occasions for various ages, we've rounded up the best "green" bashes that are original, creative, and sure to start a conversation.

Here are a Few Green-Themed Parties:

Garden Party: This theme is perfect for showers and afternoon parties. Source the menu from items in your garden and when it comes to tablescaping, the centerpieces should be a cinch with a selection of flowers and fruits at your beck and call.

Shamrock Shindig: With St. Patrick's Day coming up, use the symbol of the holiday as a basis for a great kids gathering. Create a great selection of green-themed treats like these and have your guests create shamrock crafts to take home.

Hulk Kids Party: For the little superhero in your life, this theme is a winner. From tablecloths to goodie bags, have the Hulk theme shine through — the green will come all on its own.

Eco-Friendly: Sure, this is the alternate definition of "green," but it's a serious challenge isn't it? With Earth Day right around the corner, use this as an opportunity to use sustainable plates and flatware, and serve good-for-you dishes that happen to be organic as well.

Under the Sea: While this theme certainly has a hint of blue to it, sea foam green is an excellent accent color. Create a seafood menu and serve drinks in fish bowls.

Money, Money, Money: It doesn't get greener than this. Here's a great idea for a guy's party: print up faux cash with the guest of honor's face on it and start up a serious poker tournament. As for a menu, create a lowbrow and highbrow menu that riffs off the same ingredients, and dole out chocolate bars with faux $100 bills on them as favors or a simple bag of gold coins.
