2013's It Colors
It will be another few weeks until we bid adieu to Tangerine Tango, the amazing, warm-toned color that Pantone dubbed the 2012 Color of the Year, and welcome a new shade that will grace runways, stores, weddings, product packaging, and tabletops all year long.
Sift through 2013's it-shades!
What we do have to go on now, however, is their 2013 fashion color report — a selection of colors that have "made the cool cut." With intriguing names like Monaco Blue, African Violet, Poppy Red, and Jade Shoots, we're dying to see which color gets the official crown.
Pantone reached out to a few famous fashion faces to learn what inspirations they drew from the colors. Here's what they said:
Rachel Roy on Tender Shoots: "The emotional experience of an unexpected dreamland — a world where a whimsical feminine spirit toys with the idea of punk couture, creating ultimate freedom where fantasy becomes a modern reality."
Charlotte Ronson on Monaco Blue and Dusty Blue: "Water's elements: Its fluidity, translucency, power, and lightness; the ocean's varied colors and some of the flora and fauna that thrive in it."
Herve Leger on Monaco Blue: "The book, The Quilts of Gee's Bend, which illustrates the intricate layers of a quilt from a quaint community in Alabama — their abstract visions of geometric patterns are seen in this collection."
Ella Moss on Lemon Zest: "Western Wild and The Sunshine State inspires cheerful optimism."
