Simple Green Tea Shot Recipe

Sometimes in life, you just want a good, stiff shot. But note that the operative word here isn't stiff; it's good. After all, we're well beyond those youthful days of carousal — when the cheapest vodka we could find was always the go-to, when the beer was always pale, yellow, and tasted like spoiled seltzer water, and when shots often meant boozy cubes of Jell-O. And even if you still are in your youth (but of legal drinking age, mind you), you still deserve some quality sips. When you need an adult shot in your adult life, you need to try this one, assembled here by recipe developer Christina Musgrave of Tasting with Tina

"This shot is super easy to make and will save you money by making it at home rather than getting it at a bar," Musgrave says. So why not whip up a round of simple green tea shots the next time you need a fun digestif at your dinner party? Or break them out to celebrate a sports win, to toast to a major purchase, or when your (now all grown up) college buddies are in town.

Gather your ingredients for the green tea shot

It takes but four ingredients to make this tasty shot, which really does end up looking rather like tea, albeit still tasting like booze. You'll need Irish whiskey (Jameson is typically used), sour mix, peach schnapps, and some lemon-lime soda (Sprite, Slice, 7UP, etc).

Mix up the shot

Okay, here we go! First, add plenty of ice cubes to a cocktail shaker. Then pour in the whiskey, the sour mix, and the peach schnapps. Shake these well. Actually, make that "really well," Musgrave says, "so the drink is nice and cold."

Top with soda and serve it up

Okay, got that shaken up and cold? Great, then strain the liquid into a shot glass. Top that shot with a splash of that soda, and serve it up! Super easy, right?

If you've ever shaken up soda (accidentally or intentionally), you know why we wait until the very end to add the sparkling stuff. Don't let it go flat before you get a chance to enjoy your work!

Planning a party? Mix the shots ahead of time.

If you'll be hosting a number of people and want to serve a fun shot with minimal work during the party, plan ahead! You can pre-mix the whiskey, schnapps, and sour mix and fill shot glasses, then place them in the fridge on a tray. Once it's shot time, break out the tray and top up the glasses with chilled soda. Then you can all enjoy a round with about 30 seconds of prep.
