Once you pick your kids up from school and get them home, you probably go straight into dinner mode. While getting dinner on the table is a must, we’re pretty sure your kids are already hungry right after a long day in the classroom. The good thing is that you don’t have to make them an extravagant meal — just throw together some simple dishes that they can snack on. There are tons of quick and healthy recipes to choose from. Some snack recipes are even make-ahead, so you can just take them out of the fridge when you get home.

Hearty muffins, brownies, and pinwheels are all great make-ahead snacks. The night before a school day, make your kids turkey pinwheels by cutting thin slices of cucumbers lengthwise — you can also use strips of tortilla — and adding turkey, cheese, and mustard before rolling them into wheels. Leave the ready-made pinwheels in an airtight container in the refrigerator, then just take them out to serve the next day. It’s that simple. Find delicious and healthy snacks that only take a few ingredients and your kids will be out of your hair until dinner time.
