Weekly Opening Report: The Week Of July 15, 2013

Every week, we take a look at some of the restaurants that have opened or will soon open across the country. Here's this week's roundup:

Athens, GA
Cinco y Diez: It's not official yet, but Top Chef judge Huge Acheson may be opening a Mexican restaurant in Athens, Georgia called Cinco y Diez, according to Eater.

Atlantic City, NJ
Six New Restaurants at Tropicana: Six new eateries opened in Tropicana Casino and Resort on July 11th, according to a release. They include Chickie's & Pete's Crab House and Sports Bar, Tony Luke's, Broadway Burger Bar & Grill, Casa Taco & Tequila Bar, Marketplace Express, and Perry's Pizza. New food options include crab fries, philly cheesesteaks, gourmet burgers, tequila with guacamole, pizza, and more.

Atlantic City Bottle Company: The wines and spirits shop, which has a bar and lounge, is now open, according to a release. Customers can taste whiskey, wine, microbrews, and imported beers. There is a seasonal small plates menu to enjoy with the drinks.

Empire Burger Bar: The gourmet burger joint is now open at the boardwalk at Caesars' The Pier Shops, according to a release. Customers can choose from eighteen toppings to add to their burgers. The menu also has chicken, all-beef hot dogs, seafood and smoothies.

Detroit, MI
Ottava Via: The Italian restaurant Ottava Via will open soon in Corktown, with dishes such as porchetta, hanger steak with chimichurri, and chicken with zucchini noodles, according to Huffington Post. The grand opening date is unknown, but the restaurant is now open, according to Eater Detroit.

Kansas City, MO
MetropolitanKC at Kansas City Marriott Downtown: Kansas City Marriott Downtown recently opened their new restaurant, MetropolitanKC, according to a release. The new eatery features a menu made with fresh ingredients, with dishes such as smoked pork chop, barbecue salmon, and more.

New York, NY
Nerai: Nerai opened early July, offering Greek cuisine with menu items such as grilled octopus with chickpea and roasted red pepper salad, shortrib youvetsi, and lavender mousse, according to the Village Voice.

Maison Kayser: According to a press release, Maison Kayser opened their second location in the Flatiron District on July 17. They first opened their doors on the Upper East Side, and anticipate two more expansions in Columbus Circle and Bryant Park.

Corvo Bianco: Elizabeth Falkner's highly anticipated restaurant, Corvo Bianco, has finally opened on July 15, according to a press release. The restaurant brings coastal Italian food to the Upper West Side, with Falkner cooking up fresh seafood and handmade pasta daily.

Luksus: According to a press release, Luksus opened in Brooklyn on July 16. With chef Daniel Burns leading the kitchen in his first solo project, the restaurant offers American cuisine mixed with Scandinavian flavors.

sweetgreen: This salad place will open its first New York City location on July 24 in the NoMad hotel, according to a press release. Founded in the D.C. area by three Georgetown University graduates, sweetgreen will continue to offer their eight signature menu items as well as many seasonal additions.

Hey Mambo: Located on Amsterdam Avenue, this colorful eatery brings a new twist to the Upper West Side with an eclectic menu by Tuvia Feldman. Enjoy signature items like sushi-grade swordfish belly, warm leeks rolled in Bresaola, and gold red roasted candy beets, as well as specialty cocktails made by house mixologist Blake Poon.

Washington, D.C.
Impala Cantina y Taqueria: Impala will likely open its long-awaited restaurant at 1358 H Street NE in September, according to Washington Post. In addition to their tacos, the restaurant will serve pozole, grilled steak and roasted pork, shrimp with pumpkin mole, and more.

Baltimore, Maryland
The Charmery: Husband and wife team David and Laura Alima will open their new ice cream parlor, The Charmery, in mid-July, according to a newsletter. Their belief in using the freshest local ingredients to handcraft their ice cream and toppings will lead to a wide variety of menu selections, including vegan sorbets and root beer floats.

Forno: This pizza restaurant and wine bar will open in downtown Baltimore's west side at the end of September 2013, according to a press release. Described as "upscale casual," this spot will appeal to local residents and visiting theater fans, where they will serve artisan 10-inch pizza, craft beers and over 30 wines by the glass.

Winter Park, Florida
Hamilton's Kitchen at the Alfond Inn: With the hotel's opening date set for August, Hamilton's Kitchen will serve as its main restaurant and lounge, according to a press release. Led by executive chef J. Christopher Windus, the restaurant will offer Floridian-inspired cooking for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

Dallas, Texas
Lark on the Park: Created by award-winning chefs Dennis Kelly and Melody Bishop, LARK on the Park offers fresh, seasonal cuisine with a global influence, according to a press release. Some of the featured dishes include a seafood stew with tomato fennel broth, Texas-grown cauliflower soup with brown butter, and Moo Krob Thai pork with sticky rice lime-cilantro slaw.

Beijing
Jing Yaa Tang: The Opposite House has announced the unveiling of their new restaurant, Jing Yaa Tang, on August 29, according to a press release. The menu will feature a selection of Beijing roast duck dishes, but will also extend to include a wide variety of favorite plates from different regions across China.

Las Vegas
Kumi Japanese Restaurant: According to a press release, chef Akira opens his all-new modern Japanese restaurant with a Korean-American twist at Mandalay Bay.  Kumi's menu include some signature dishes, such as whitefish carpaccio and kobe beef tacos.
