New York City can certainly be overwhelming. There are millions of people, an endless grid of busy streets, blinding lights, and blaring noises — and yet it is still considered one of the greatest cities in the world.
This is thanks to the city’s distinction as being the center of commerce and culture, and the colorful history contained within its borders. There are tons of museums, celebrities live and work here, the best entertainment is offered at all times, numerous professional sports teams call the area home, and the restaurants arguably can’t be beat — in terms of both quality and quantity. Plus, The Daily Meal’s offices are here, so bonus!
With the 15-year anniversary of the September 11th attacks only a few days away, we’d like to honor our home with a rundown of the top 20 tourist attractions. There shouldn’t be any big surprises here, as this list isn’t meant to be an itinerary for secret or off-the-beaten-path destinations, but rather the most famous locations in the Big Apple.
If you’ve never been to New York, take note for a future trip. If you’ve visited before but somehow missed any of these spots, consider this a reminder of everything this great city has to offer.
