What Time Does IHOP Start Serving Lunch?

As the world-famous International House of Pancakes, it's clear what this breakfast chain has been known for since 1958. That's right: t-bone steak and eggs, Angus beef burgers, and Philly cheese steak stackers. Wait, what? Okay, so those aren't the menu items that put IHOP on the map — but that doesn't mean they aren't there.

While the breakfast hot spot has been slinging pancakes for nearly 65 years, IHOP has also included other various lunch and dinner items on its menus. The chain even served a self-proclaimed "Pancizza" and a pancake-burger hybrid in 2019, consisting of a cheddar cheese-filled mini pancake sandwiched between two burger patties and bacon. (We've chosen to forget the latter.) Yes, for better or worse, entrées such as sirloin Salisbury steak and all-natural roasted turkey have joined the blue-roofed pancake paradise for a limited time.

Now, the right to order omelets or Thick 'n Fluffy French Toast remains an all-day, 24/7 breakfast option. However, depending on the location, IHOP's lunch and dinner items may only be available at certain times of the day.

IHOP's lunch hours and hopping all-new Choice Menu

If your local IHOP has designated open and closing hours, lunch and dinner are typically served between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., per Breakfast Hours. Though many IHOP locations keep their grills on for 24 hours, every independent franchisee must adhere to the company's "minimum hours" protocol.

If you really want a dinner item during breakfast hours, though, you may be in luck. According to Business Wire, in August, IHOP announced a "Choice Menu" that allows guests to create their preferred combo at any time of the day. IHOP's Choice Menu consists of various combo options, including the Create Your Own Griddle, customizable Steakburgers, and crispy or grilled chicken breast sandwiches (via Forbes). It's available to customers 24/7, in-store or online, through the IHOP mobile app and website.

IHOP has also revived its fan-favorite seasonal Pumpkin Spice Pancakes, Strawberry Banana French Toast, and Lemon Ricotta Mixed Berry French Toast alongside the new Gingersnap Apple French Toast. Three festive drinks were also added to the holiday menu, including the Gingersnap Hot Chocolate, Gingersnap Milkshake, and Red Passion Fruit Splasher.
