Shanghai Surprise Recipe
Our Shanghai Surprise re-imagines one of my favorite twists on a Bloody Mary, the Michelada, with Chinese-inspired ingredients: rice wine vinegar for acidity, sriracha for heat and Tsingtao beer for body (and an extra kick). The ‘Surprise’ is your garnish: a treat added at the bartender’s discretion to complete this transportive cocktail.

Ingredients
- 3 ounce bloody mary mix
- 5 ounce tsingtao or pilsner beer
- 1/2 ounce lime juice
- 3 dashes sriracha
- 2 dashes rice wine vinegar
- 16 ounce tomato juice
- 2 ounce lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon horseradish
- 2 teaspoon tabasco
- 2 teaspoon worcestershire
- 1 teaspoon celery salt
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- In a tall pilsner glass, add lime juice, sriracha and vinegar. Fill with ice, add beer, then top with Bloody Mary mix.
