Using just a handful of staple ingredients, French toast turns everyday bread into one of the most delicious dishes known to man. This recipe is guaranteed to turn out perfect French toast every time.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread, preferably challah or brioche, thick-sliced
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 1/4 Cup whole milk
  • 2 Teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 3/4 Teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 Teaspoon salt
  • 3 Tablespoons butter

Directions

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat, and add a tablespoon of butter to melt.

In a shallow dish, combine eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and salt.

Add bread to the mixture, one or two slices at a time, and allow to soak, depending on personal preference, up to 30 seconds per side.

Cook in pan until golden brown on both sides, about 8 minutes total. Finish cooking, allowing additional butter to melt in pan between batches. Depending on the saturation level of the egg mixture, it may need to finish cooking on a wire rack set atop a sheet pan in a 350 degree oven.

Top with butter and syrup.
