London Fish & Chips Shop Celebrates National Fish And Chip Day By Looking To The Past

In celebration of National Fish and Chip Day today, June 3, Poppie's Fish and Chips Spitalfields is serving fish and chips in a newspaper reprint of the Queen's coronation.

Historic Newspapers, the oldest largest original newspaper archive, has partnered with Poppie's and is handing out free Front Page Reprints and giving customers a voucher for an Original Newspaper from the day they were born, according to a release.

Though fish and chips were sold in newspapers only up until the 1980s, Poppie's still serves takeout orders in newspapers printed with edible ink.

Kevin Sears, ecommerce director at Historic Newspapers, said, "For many, the smell, and taste, of fish and chips provokes a sense of nostalgia... We wanted to bring history back to life by handing out Front Page Reprints, and what better way than teaming up with Poppie's Fish and Chips, where newspapers were handed out by the thousands back in the day."
