KFC Gave Away Chicken-Flavored Chocolate Truffles For Mother's Day

KFC is definitely trolling hard this Mother's Day. First, the fried chicken fast-food company released a steamy romance novel with Colonel Sanders as the dashing love interest, and now they're coming out with a line of specialty fried chicken-flavored chocolate truffles just for New Zealand customers.

"We're excited to be offering a way for KFC fans to share something they love with the special mum in their life this Mother's Day," Clark Wilson, the marketing director for KFC New Zealand, said in a press statement.

The bizarre limited-edition chocolates were given away in a Facebook contest to 20 customers who either have a taste for quirky and unsettling gifts or really dropped the ball on a Mother's Day gift this year. In total, 30 boxes of chicken-fried chocolates were produced, with the remaining 10 to be sold to "KFC superfans."

The four-piece premium box of truffles actually looks tempting and comes in two decadent flavors: "a nutty and creamy milk chocolate truffle topped with 23 carat gold leaf and seasoned with the Colonel's eleven secret herbs and spices, and a dark chocolate truffle infused with their signature hot and spicy marinade," according to The New Zealand Herald.
