Netflix Picks Up 'Green Eggs And Ham' Animated Series Produced By Ellen DeGeneres

"I do not like them in a box, I do not like them with a fox, I would prefer my green eggs and ham on my Netflix menu, Sam I am!"

Netflix has acquired the rights to produce a 13-episode TV show based on the iconic children's book Green Eggs and Ham, according to Deadline. The series is slated to come out in 2018 after three years of production, and will be backed by a star team: Warner Bros. Animation and producers Ellen DeGeneres,  Jared Stern, Jeff Kleeman, Mike Karz, David Dobkin. The series will also be written by Stern (Wreck it Ralph, The Lego Movie).

An animated series produced by DeGeneres, and featuring the well-known Dr. Seuss tale, will likely be an instant hit. This will be the first Netflix original show specifically geared toward kids.

"This show is going to combine two of my favorite things — Dr. Seuss and binge watching," DeGeneres said during the announcement on her daytime talk show.

Netflix's clever announcement of the series reads: "In this richly animated production, a 13-episode introduction, standoffish inventor (Guy, by name) and Sam-I-Am of worldwide fame, embark on a cross-country trip that tests the limits of their friendship. As they learn to try new things, they find out what adventure brings. Of course they also get to eat that famous green and tasty treat!"
