Alton Brown Makes Bow Ties Cool Again

As a wise time lord once said, bow ties are cool. And perhaps no one knows that better than TV personality Alton Brown, who is often found wearing a neat bowtie with his outfit. His instructional video "How to Tie a Bowtie" has gotten several hundred thousand views on YouTube. Today, to celebrate National Bowtie Day, the chef has been re-tweeting photos of fans sporting the classic neckwear with the hashtag #bowtiesarecool. So it makes sense that Brown would team up with hook + ALBERT to create an exclusive line of bow ties in various shades and patterns like paisley and plaid.

"The guys at hook + ALBERT completely got what I wanted," said Brown. "Basically, these are ties I wanted for myself but couldn't find. They're eccentric but wearable and very clothes-friendly."

Brown also wants to let all of the top-notch dressers out there know that they should not be afraid of bowties, and that they are definitely making a comeback.

"From jeans to a suit, the office to dinner to a night out, these ties do it all," he said. "What we've done with this collection is hopefully made bow ties that will appeal to guys who have never given bow ties a thought."

If you'd rather celebrate in a tastier way, we recommend whipping up Alton Brown's artichoke pasta salad made with — you guessed it — bowtie pasta.
