A Mexican-Inspired Holiday Dinner

It's natural to find comfort in routines, but sometimes it's nice to do something a little different for the holidays. These recipes aren't meant to be a complete 360 from the traditional holiday dinner; instead, each of them offers a slight twist on the classics. For example, chef Patricio Sandoval of Mercadito Restaurant incorporates mescal-soaked dates into his butternut squash gratin, and Rick Bayless of Frontera Grill packs some serious Mexican flavor into his ham showstopper with a chipotle-glaze and cherry-jicama salsa. And don't forget the homemade corn tortillas.
