Maharashtra Tourism Brings Diwali To Times Square
On Sept. 22, the Asian Indian festival Diwali, also known as "festival of lights," will be held at Times Square, The Times of India reports. It is the first time an Asian Indian cultural show will be at display in this renowned landmark, and the turnout is expected to be large.
Although the exact types of food that will be served is not yet revealed, participating vendors include Tea India, Stalkier, Kingfisher Beer, Rajbhog Sweets & Snacks, and Kulfiwala. Rajbhog is known for an array of Indian sweets, and Kulfiwala for their ice cream.
Indian celebrities, such as actor Ranbir Kapoor and actresses Rich Kapoor, and Neetu Kapoor, will be flown in for performances at the festival. Other entertainment includes autograph signings, photograph boot, sari draping lessons, an Indian style fashion show, and traditional Indian dance performances and lessons, such as Bollywood.
